Peter continues his instruction to the church under fire with encouragement to wives and husbands. Though these verses have been used negatively by some, their intent establishes wives and husbands as equal in the eyes of God, encourages wives who find themselves in difficult circumstances, and challenged husbands’ view of their wives as property.
