Today was the first week of advent, so today we celebrated the lighting of the candle of Hope. This sermon was given to us today from Pastor Bill Collum. The overall theme of this message is hope, but we really looked at the fact that we, the church, are to be sharing the gospel with everyone around us.
Count Your Blessings
This morning, as we enter a time of thanksgiving, Brother Danny uses Ephesians 1, verses 3-10 to remind us to count our blessings as the children of God.
In the Garden
Today we looked at the history behind the song ‘In the Garden’. This song was written by C. Austin Miles in the 20th century. This song is important to remind us that God is always with us.
Blessed Assurance
This morning, as Brother Danny continued his series on the great hymns of the faith, we discussed Blessed Assurance. Using Hebrews 10:19-25, Brother Danny showed us showed us the truth that God gives his people assurance of their faith, of his love, and of our salvation, through our saviour Jesus Christ.
Pray and Don't Give Up
Today we had a very special service combined with New Community Church. The message today was given to us from Pastor Joel Davis. This message serves as a remember that we need to pray always to God.
O Worship the King
Today we looked at the song ‘O Worship the King’. As we looked the history of this wonderful song written by Robert Grant. This song reminds us that we need to praise God because He is worthy of it all.
What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Today we looked at the song ‘What a Friend We have in Jesus’. Bro. Danny told us of Joseph Scriven and how he came to write this song. This song is very important to us as christians beacuse it reminds us that we can trust in God.
Stand Up for Jesus
Today we looked at the song ‘Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus’. Bro. Danny told us of Dudly Tyng and how he inspired the writing of this song. Throughout our daily lives we must always remember to stand up for Jesus and to wear the full armor of God.
How Not to Observe
For today’s sermon Bro. Danny took us to the book of Luke to observe the Lord’s Supper. This sermon is a reminder to us that we need to ask God to show us the deepest crevices of our hearts and help us to turn them to Him.
Abide With Me
Today we continue to go through looking at ‘Great Hymns of Our Faith’. This morning Bro. Danny told us the story of how the song ‘Abide With Me’ was written by Henry F. Lyte. This song is a reminder to us that we need to be constantly asking God to be with us as we go throughout our lives in this sinful world in which we live.
